Seven Minnesota Blades Chosen in 2011 NHL Entry Draft

Seven Minnesota Blades alumni were chosen in the 2011 Entry Draft.  85 Blades alumni have been drafted by the NHL.  This year’s group was led by Steven Fogerty who was chosen in the third round by the New York Rangers.  Fogerty, a forward from Edina, is committed to play for the University of Notre Dame.

Joseph Labate was chosen in the fourth round by Vancouver.  He will be wearing a Wisconsin Badgers jersey this fall.  Future Gopher Seth Ambroz was grabbed by the Columbus Blue Jackets in Round Five.  Also taken in the fifth round was defenseman Nick Seeler.   Seeler, headed for the University of Nebraska-Omaha, was chosen by the hometown Minnesota Wild.  Two Blades taken in the sixth round, Travis Boyd (Washington Capitals) and goaltender Adam Wilcox (Tampa Bay Lightning)  are  headed to the Gophers.   Future Harvard defenseman  Max Everson was chosen by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the seventh round.   All of these players were members of the 1993 Blades, except Wilcox, who was born in 1992.

“We are very proud of what the Blades 1993 class has accomplished individually and as a team,” said Blades Director Terry Moore.  “We are excited to follow these young men as their careers progress.”   On follow up,  Moore confirmed that “Of course, we are proud of Mr. Wilcox as well.”

The Minnesota Blades are a non-profit hockey club.  In 21 years of history, the Blades have had more than 300 Division I college hockey players and 85 NHL draft choices.  In the past season, 25 Blades players played in the NHL.

CONGRATULATIONS Steven, Joseph, Seth, Nick, Travis, Adam, and Max!
