The 1998 Blades caught fire in August, going 11-0 and winning the Golden Walleye Classic Mariucci Arena and the Caribou Coffee Cup in Maple Grove..
Coach Zach Sikich lead the team to a dominating 5-0 run through the Golden Walleye, with wins over the Midwest Selects (7-2), the Minnesota Icemen (5-2), ITR 26ers (8-3) and the Wisconsin Badgers (6-2) before winning a tight Championship game, 1-0 over the Midwest Selects.
Two weeks later, the 98s did on better, going 6-0 to win the Caribou Coffee Cup. ON the way, the defeated the ITR 26ers, Manitoba Red Army, CCM FLyers (twice) and Manitoba Predators. The Championship game with the Host Minnesota Icemen was hotly contested until the Blades scored five third period goals to win 8-1.

The 98 Blades won the Golden Walleye championship, held at the University of Minnesota August 12-14, 2011. The Blades beat the Midwest Selects 1-0 in the championship game to finish 5-0 in the tournament. The Blades other victories were against the Minnesota Icemen, the ITR 26ers, Cougar Selects and the Midwest Selects.
